What is Psychotherapy/5-Path?

Psythotherapy

Clinical Hypnotherapy and PsychotherapyPsychotherapy is the use and application of psychological knowledge that helps people to identify and challenge emotional issues that have impacted on an individual manifesting in unwanted behaviour. Psychotherapy seeks to look at the motivational drivers within an individual and offer an explanation to the behaviour that is demonstrated. It has several different theoretical models that have developed over time, the most commonly known being psycho-analysis. The therapy that I practise uses some of the best ideas from these differing schools of thought in order to help people achieve not only a rapid rate of improvement but also a lasting one. It has its basis in a cognitive-analytical model (CBT) that seeks to look at the process behind thought, and understand how it has developed, and of course how to change negative thought processes into positive ones.

What is Hypno-Psychotherapy?

Hypno-Psychotherapy utilises two tenets of therapy; the use of hypnosis as the primary therapeutic intervention in conjunction with a psychotherapeutic focus on the issue, concern or behaviour presented. The combined use with hypnosis can therefore help modify an individual’s attitude, emotions and behaviour as well as managing stress-related illnesses and promote a positive self belief and personal development. ‘In the field of hypno-psychotherapy the unconscious mind is looked upon as a resource for wellness and creativity, accessing this part of the mind, through hypnosis, opens up possibilities for the maintenance of the body towards health via the autonomic processes.’ United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (2010)

What is 5-Path?

5-Path Logo

It stand for Five-Phase Advanced Transformational Hypnosis®. A Powerful And Systematic Advanced Approach Using Suggestion Therapy, Age Regressions, Forgiveness Therapies and Parts Mediation Therapy.

Elaine Martin is a graduate in advanced hypnosis training and certification in 5-PATH® Hypnotherapy. These hypnosis professionals are among some of the most advanced hypnotherapists with whom you can work. Training and certification in 5-PATH® Hypnotherapy allows the hypnotist to go far beyond what most hypnotists can do in a hypnosis session.

5 Path practitioners use these hypnotic analytic techniques, applied in five phases over and average of five to eight sessions, with six sessions being the norm. Not all clients need to progress through all of the phases of hypnotherapy, but they are available if needed.

How would you choose whether to use hypnotherapy or hypno-psychotherapy/5 path?

Hypnotherapy uses mainly suggestion techniques and deals with issues that sometimes are not as complicated such as simple fears, concentration/study skills, pain management and sometimes weight loss and smoking if we are just dealing with a habit.  Hypno-psychotherapy/5-Path uses psycho-analytical techniques to treat chronic stress, anxiety, phobias and more deep rooted psychological problems. The therapist would always discuss the best approach and agree on a treatment plan in advance.

CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy)

Cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT) is a type of psychotherapeutic treatment that helps patients to understand the thoughts and feelings that influence behaviours. CBT is commonly used to treat a wide range of disorders, including phobias, addiction, depression and anxiety. Cognitive behaviour therapy is used to raise awareness and help the clients deal with specific problem. During the course of treatment, people learn how to identify and change destructive or disturbing thought patterns that have a negative influence on behaviour. It is important to know that an individual that only practises as a hypnotherapist may not have undertaken training in psychotherapeutic theory and practice.[/fusion_text]
